  • Thousands of Young Musicians Compete in Vallejo

    From April 27 to May 19, over 5,000 young musicians will travel through Vallejo to participate in the Music in the Parks competition event. With four weekends of performances and competition, Music in the Parks is a welcome attraction for local musicians and students in Vallejo who study choir, orchestra or band. Vallejo natives arent the only ones enjoying the music. After their performances, the competing students are given tickets to spend the day at the nearby Six Flags Discovery Kingdom theme park.

  • Local gym owner gives firefighting recruits and department a lift

    Gym owner, Dennis Brinson, is helping the cash strapped Vallejo Fire Department improve the physical fitness of new recruits by offering the services of his gym for free. Due to a federal grant, the department was able to hire a total of 15 new recruits over the last two years. These recruits have been able to train free of charge at the Olympic Health Club on Tennessee Street thanks to the generous owner.
